CONTEXT: What were the circumstances that framed the
meaning and process of this project?

The show was set in a parking lot where audience members are
free to roam. There is also no script used, every car is having their own
authentic conversation. These aspects address the projects objective to get
black persons voices heard. They also addressed the issue of immigration and
the negative stereotype put against them.

CONTENT: What was the issue, need, idea or opportunity
addressed by this project?

The unheard voices of black persons; especially the younger
teenage generation. Making sure to address the issue with media promoting a
negative stereotype of black people. Therefore creating black youth to experience
various troubles with finding themselves and their identity.

STAKEHOLDERS: Which are the groups or individuals that
invested in the process and outcomes of project?

The artists Chris and Suzanne paired with a group of teachers and
students from an Oakland high school. They then paired with a media station who
broadcasted about the event.

AUDIENCE: For whom was this project conceived?
-
For the black youth that is currently entering adult hood and
forming their thoughts and opinions, this project is making sure their voice is
heard. For immigrants and their children who are objected to unjust treatment
from prejudiced people.
6. ENGAGEMENT STRATEGIES: How were the
stakeholders, audiences, and others engaged/connected to the project?

They were all passionate about the issues and creating a better
dialogue in relation to people of color in the media.
7. GOAL: What are this project's
objectives?
- To give
exposure to this generation and the struggles they observe around them or go
through themselves. They show these students in a “better light”; highlighting
their profound thoughts and opinions on various issues including the government,
social reform, and the prison system.
8. VALUES: What were the project's guiding
values or core beliefs? How were they expressed
in the process?
- That all
people deserve an unprejudiced portrayal in the media and treatment in everyday
life. The younger generation also needs to enter adult hood with the ability to
find and identify themselves without a negative image being projected onto
them.
9. RESOURCES: What tangible and intangible
resources were used to pursue the project's goals?
- Cars, people,
opinions, sound equipment, recording equipment, news providers, audience
members.
10: OUTCOMES: What were the results of
this project?
- Many of
the audience members were stunned, surprised, and saddened by what they heard
during the performance. In the end it helped them to be aware of the issues facing
young people of color. Many other older people of color were excited to see
young people tackle such large issues while being able to form their own image.
