CONTEXT: What were the circumstances that framed the meaning and process of this project? The circumstances attributed to the climate of what was going on at the time, and was still goes on today, in regards to racism and the perception of black people. People were viewed and treated differently because of skin, and these teenagers were able to discuss and talk openly in this project, in cars, and viewers can listen in.
CONTENT: What was the issue, need, idea or opportunity addressed by this project? Many voices that aren’t heard need to be heard, especially the black youth and teenagers, to express and shed light a reality that is unjust and unfair and horrible in regards to discrimination and stereotypes and the negative perception on them, which also affects their future and education. The opportunity presented is that their voices can now be heard and it’s a start.
FORM: What is the medium that was used to address or embody the content? They held conversations, openly and freely about the topics and issues they want to address. Viewers can listen in on any conversation and take in a whole broad aspect to the situation while listening to individual voices.
STAKEHOLDERS: Which are the groups or individuals that invested in the process and outcomes of project? The artist, the teachers and the students participating, and anyone who helped spread the word and give it coverage, especially the film crew. Anyone involved in the community.
AUDIENCE: For whom was this project conceived? This is by and for the minorities especially those of darker skin color, but also for the others and everyone else to listen. I feel like this is for anyone and everyone, there’s something to take away and learn.
ENGAGEMENT STRATEGIES: Engagement strategy of conversations, and listening, goes both ways. Have that dialogue started between each other, and to those listening.
GOAL: What are this project's objectives? Let the youth talk freely and let the voices be heard. Create awareness.
VALUES: What were the project's guiding values or core beliefs? How were they expressed in the process? Everyone, no matter the skin color, deserves equal treatment. Awareness from others but also awareness of themselves of those facing discrimination and negative media portrayal. This was expressed in dialogue and conversations and in this project’s frame.
RESOURCES: What tangible and intangible resources were used to pursue the project's goals? Vehicles, space permit, an audience, performers (students), teachers, creative director, sound and lighting, camera.
OUTCOMES: What were the results of this project? Voices were heard, people listened. Knowledge was shared and awareness was distributed in a peaceful and informative way. Audience are getting engaged and by listening they are breaking down those barriers. Everyone talking felt empowered and confident to be able to freely share their insight and feelings and calling out what’s wrong in society.
